POW #4

Dear, Brutus
Last night I had a fight with Calphurnia. She was trying to convince me to stay at the palace, and skip the crowning. I sided with her, but quickly changed my mind realizing that I am king of Rome and must show no fear. I am just so frustrated with her recently because she thinks she can control me, for crying out loud I am the Emperor of Rome! I think I have nothing to fear, so I think I should go to the crowning and show her that nothing will happen. Do you have any advice on the subject? Write me back if you do.

Best regards, Julius

Julius, I too had a fight except it was with Portia. She got mad at me for staying up late worried about my health. We had a row and I ended up telling her I’ll do whatever I want. She is treating me like a little kid; I am a grown man I should be able to stay up as late as I want. Anyway I think you should go to the crowning there will be security there is nothing to worry about. Can I ask you how to handle the situation with Portia I don’t want to make things worse. Write me back if you have any ideas

Sincerely, Brutus

POW #3

Dear Dr. Berry
I know your choice on whether we should stay 2 extra days is coming nearer. However having us stay 2 extra days could impact the district for years to come. Adding on these snow days could spell disaster to students and teachers alike. Would you like to spend your summer in school? I didn’t think so.
You must think it’s your duty as an American to hold us 2 extra days, because American education is behind the rest of the world. As you already know we stay longer in school than most districts in the U.S. Others would even say to hold us even longer, in hopes of outperforming the schools around the world that go to school year round. You may see this as concrete proof to have us stay, but this could be our downfall.
As I said earlier before you might think it’s your duty to hold us 2 extra days, but quite frankly many students would not even be in school during those days because of vacations they were taking. Because of all these vacations these kids were taking it would highly inconvenience teachers because they would have to give finals early, making them stay after school longer or coming in earlier.  Another reason would also be that some kids may start camp right after the day school is suppose to be let out, or have jobs whose hours switch because they aren’t suppose to be in school anymore. This may lead to kids taking the days off to go to work or camp or just flat out not showing up.
Teachers say in this decision is very big. Quite frankly they having to stay 2 extra days could leave them unmotivated to teach, and they could have vacation plans as well. Some teachers are counting on getting out on time and if they had to stay 2 extra days it could leave them in a bad mood and make students days at school bad as well. Teachers planned vacations could leave the schools short staffed, and also confuse kids when subs come in and try to teach them, making the 2 extra days just hectic and not very productive.
I have made my case and you should see the big negatives staying 2 extra days because of snow. Making your decision soon could calm down things a little but overall there is just too much that could make things bad. You should just opt out of staying 2 extra days of school.
